May 22nd and 23rd - Australia

Yesterday, students finished watching the Australia video and came up with a main idea for the video.  They worked on their study guide 589-593 in class, students that were finished started the Australian slang writing project.  The study guide was due today and we corrected it in class.  The students worked on the Australian slang assignment today, it will be due on Wednesday.

May 21st - Australia

Today, students continued watching more of the Australia video.  They took notes on Honey Ants, Thorny Devil, Perentie, Echidna, wet season and dry seasons.  After watching part of the video, students checked their study guide pg. 575-577.  The next study guide (589-593) will be due on Friday. Tomorrow students will start an assignment using Australian slang to create a song, letter, or story.

May 20th - Australia

Today, students did questions of the day and jeopardy, afterwards we began watching and discussing a video on Australia. Students created a graphic organizer for their video notes.  We will watch parts of the video each day.  After the video, students turned in or worked on their study guide 575-577.  The class will check it on Wednesday for credit.

Today, students began their study of the Australian/Oceania continent.  We were able to complete a check a map of Australia.  Students also had time to work on a study guide for Australia.  The study guide 575-577 will be due on Wednesday.

May 15th and 16th

Yesterday, students took the Cold War quiz. Most of the quizzes have been graded and put in PowerSchool.  Students will be finishing up some quizzes today and more will be graded by the end of the day.  After the quiz, students worked on a map of Australia, our next unit. Today, most students were able to finish that map, it will be due on Monday.  Some students began working on a study guide for Australia.

May 14th - Cold War

Today, students took a practice vocabulary quiz on the Cold War.  Students reviewed the words through pictures and political cartoons.  We also discussed and viewed the sports competitions that took place during the Cold War, for example 1972 Gold Medal Basketball game and 1980 Olympic Hockey game.

May 13th - Chernobyl Disaster

Today, students finished going over their Changes in the U.S.S.R. worksheet.  Most students are ready for the quiz on Thursday.  Student also watched more of the Chernobyl disaster video.  We took a few minutes to discuss the MERS virus that is spreading from the Middle East. There are currently to known cases in the U.S.  MERS

May 9th - Cold War

Today, students worked on finishing their changes in the U.S.S.R worksheet.  Students also took notes and discussed a video about the Chernobyl disaster.  Students will need the information for a question on their next quiz.  There will be a quiz over the Cold War next Wednesday.

May 7 and 8 - Cold War

Yesterday, students the opportunity to travel to Usher's Ferry.  They took a step back in time to 1850 and looked at how life would be different than today.  The students did very well and asked some great questions.

Today, students finished the presentation on Nuclear power.  They will finish the worksheet "Change in the U.S.S.R." tomorrow and watch a video on the Chernobyl disaster.

May 6th - Cold War

Today, students worked on a PowerPoint presentation on Nuclear power.  Students filled out half the presentation packet today.  We will finish on Thursday, because 7B field trip to Usher's Ferry is on Wednesday.  We will lead in to talking about the Chernobyl and Three Mile Island disasters.

April 1-5 Cold War

Students have turned their attention to the Cold War.  We are creating a list of notes on causes and reasons for the Cold War.  So far students have discussed Proxy wars, Arms Race, Space race, Democracy, Dictatorship, Communism, Capitalism.  We have also been discussing current events in Nigeria and Russia.
