Review: What can we do to prevent a future Holocaust?

 - Accepting others for who they are
- Do not dislike people for what they are wearing or how they act.  The point is do not judge people.
- Understanding the past 
- Take a stand, don't be a bystander
- Protect the weak 
- Stand up to hate and discrimination
- Respect each other

Today, students in Mods 1 and 3 took a mini quiz over the Holocaust and corrected the Holocaust Concentration Camp worksheets.  Mods 4-6 will take the mini quiz tomorrow.  Students in Mods 4-6 were given time to work on the Holocaust Concentration Camp worksheet in class.  It will be due at the beginning of class tomorrow.  All classes viewed two survivor story videos to prepare for the speaker tomorrow.

Holocaust and Concentration Camps

Review: Why did the Soviets liberate so many of the camps?

The USSR was closer to Poland and many of the Camps.


Today, students discussed a quote about the Holocaust and watched a short video that depicted a American soldiers liberating a Concentration Camp.  Finally, students were able to work on their worksheet on concentration camps that is due on Thursday.

Holocausts and Concentration Camps

Holocaust - The murder of 6 million European Jews, it was started by Adolf Hilter and Nazi Germany

Today, we passed back the Medieval essay test.  Students did pretty well, if they want to retake they will need to answer the essay that they did not do the first time.  For example, if a student did essay 3 and 5, then on the retake they need to answer 2 and 4.  This will be due before spring break.  We spent the day learning about the Holocaust and working on a worksheet to understand Concentration Camps.

Jewish Persecution

Today, students learned about Jewish persecution throughout history and the Holocaust.  This will build a foundation of knowledge for the Holocaust speaker on Thursday, March 12.

Medieval Essay Test

Students had the whole class period to take the essay test. Tomorrow we will start a mini unit on the Holocaust and Jewish persecution.  It will prepare students for the Holocaust speaker on March 12.

Review: What are the symptoms of the Black Death?

Buboes - enlarged lymph nodes

Headache
Weakness
Bleeding
Tissue death (black color)
Bloody mucus

Today, students will be watching a video about the filthy city of London during the Middle Ages.  Since there was no school yesterday, the essay test will be moved to Thursday.

Black Plague video and Essay prep

Review - What event helped bring Europe out of the Dark Ages?

Crusades opened up trade routes and brought back the ideas of the Greeks and Romans.

Today, students will put together their study packets.  Next, we will watch about 20 minutes of the plague documentary.  Finally, we will finish by discussing the essay questions for the test on Tuesday.
